Welcome to Hues. This book is titled hues due to the broad spectrum of color that I captured through the course of this year. Hues makes up all light that is seen. Scientifically, Hues are variations in the frequencies of light, and these wavelengths create what our eyes perceive as color. Color is complicated and displaying that level of intricacy is key to creating a photograph. I have made every attempt to push the limitations of my equipment, creativity, and technical ability to create this story.
In, the opening pages, you see a total of 9 HEX swatches, this is by design as each of these color codes occur numerously throughout these collections of photographs. I was able to index the works created this year and find the most prevalent tones and organize them beautifully. As with each of iteration of my book, there visual storyline that occurs, and now I have been able to create a written story in the form of short photo essays that delve deep into my creative mindset or into the life of subject pictured. This is key to understand my overarching theme.
I would like to personally thank all the models featured in this book. Each feature within this book is extremely talented and a mover in their community. These models are all part of my exclusive team, dubbed Kai’s Model Collective (KMC). Each member worked tirelessly to help me convey my art and helped to fledge the final product. These members also benefit from around the clock access to sessions, referral rebates, a yearly dinner, and a feature in the book you are holding.
If you are interested in joining K.M.C., please utilize the avenues below to get into contact with me.
I would also like to thank the University of New Mexico, and specifically their photography department. During, the second half creating this book, I was enrolled in courses within UNM and was able to discover aspects of my creative process that broadened my horizons.
Again, thanks for taking the time to experience my work.

Cheyenne embodies elegance. Her series was taken months apart, yet the aesthetic continues and progresses. Chey is an avid Vegetarian, she is family oriented and prefers to be outside. We had the chance to shoot at the ABQ Bio Park’s Aquarium. We arrived at open, basically with the whole place to ourselves. The light was in a particularly rare place due to the time of year and the orientation of the tanks. The cascading light is what led to me to find a location suitable for a continuation of this color range. We ended up utilizing two pools within my apartment complex, one being extremely cold and the other being a hot tub. These shots complimented the conveyed trapped feeling of being under the surface and breaking free. Chey recalled that it seemed like a ‘rebirth’ switch from the polar opposite bodies of water. This was an entry for my Narrative Project for a course in photography.

Denae played a key role in this shoot working with the talent most of the time, creating this sense of motion. Denae is pursue a career in nursing, but at heart she also loves to photograph. She is extremely talented at visualizing what best fits a situation, but yet experiments with new ideas. Denae brought the idea to incorporate this night environment with light painting. This series spans a variety of color that is displayed. This is thanks to the Nanlite Pavotube 30C, and a tripod. These were taken near Rio Grande and Alemeda, Corrales, NM

Cesar is a dominant figure within my work for a variety of reasons. Cesar keeps a beat on the fashion, streetwear, and local art scene. He is constantly involved in events and shows, and even has a brand of his own. Cesar and I have been friends for 6 years, and I’ve had the pleasure to photograph all the drops for his brand. He is a master of Adobe Photoshop and designs his clothing completely in house. He is the proud owner of three of my only prints currently shown, and the accompanying NFT’s which are minted using Etherium’s OpenSea.

2022 Opener Shoot

Pink. That’s really all I have to say. This series was for you guessed it… Valentine’s Day. Lorena was perfect for this session, as she took my direction to next level, proving that she’s deserved a place in K.M.C. She contacted me for this shoot after a harsh breakup that left her feeling revengeful. Lorena want to theme a shoot as the valentine’s day where you’re proud to be single. We went shopping for as much pink as we could find, and rented Lighthouse Studio formerly located near El Vato Motel

This was purely an excuse to celebrate New Mexico's legalization of Recreational Marijuana, we smoked Durban Poison from R. Greenleaf

2022 Integrity Automotive Merch Release

Chops on the Block

Devin snapped me on day, asking if I’d let him give me a haircut, naturally my immediate reaction was no, but I felt like I had an obligation to help out my friend who prior had got me a job. I showed up to his house, and we went to the backyard where he had built a shed with his whole shop setup within. That was determination. He wasn’t very good at the time but that didn’t stop me from going. Within a few months he was chopping at one of ABQ’s best barbershops, ABQ Essentials. The store features a hybrid hype beast store that you can also get a haircut at. I will always get cut by Dev.
